从建南车站乘到榆社县城的车，每20分一趟，（车票三十，走高速的话半路司机要加五元的高速费，）到县城汽车站下，转乘到云竹的车，也是20分一趟，（票价五元）就到了，很方便的，到了那你可以钧鱼，到农家乐里吃吃农家饭，现在水库周围村里每个村里都有农家乐，很不错，鱼，水果，蔬菜，小米——都是绿色食品，口味也很特别。价格也不贵。现在正是好时节！
早上7：20的车，到榆社9：20，然后到汽车站坐到云竹的6路车，车费3元。
云竹湖位于榆社县县域西南部，距县城22公里，距太原市88公里。湖区地域跨云竹镇和河峪乡两乡（镇），东面紧邻云竹镇，西南、西北分别与武乡县、祁县相邻。云竹湖系海河流域南运河水系、浊漳河支流。
云竹河上游的海金山脚下，系1959年动工1960年建成的海金山水库。水库海拔高程1021米，水库坝长197米、坝顶宽7米、坝顶高海拔1031米。库区总面积21700亩(1447公顷)，其中水域面积21244亩(1416公顷)，周遍地456(31．4公顷)。水库上游控制流域面积353平方公里、校核总库容9845万立方米，可灌溉面积1．38万亩、水库防洪投资为千年一遇防洪标准，是一座以防洪为主、兼顾灌溉、水产养殖、发电(现已停止)为一体的中型水库。
云竹湖旅游度假区规划，系在云竹湖水面高程1020米的水域范围及水面高程1022米的湿地地域范围的基础上适度扩展，根据周边土地的性质、地形、地貌、建设条件，拟定规划区范围为：南起海金山豹子沟南口——向阳村，北至仓竹沟——北河村、东
自豹子沟——寄子村，西到下赤峪——南峪村，东西长约6公里，南北宽约4公里。规划范围总用地1974公顷，其中水域面积590公顷(含湿地188公顷)、周边地1384公顷(含5个村庄)。
云竹湖旅游度假区的环境主体——云竹湖、湖面广阔，边缘蜿蜒曲折，大小沟壑水面四面延伸、形态丰富多姿、独具特色。广阔多姿的湖面既可为游湖、泛舟水上观光游乐提供广阔场所，亦为垂钓、休闲、开展各种水上运动提供所需各种空间。黄土山地，土坡平缓，坐北朝南，面向湖面，四周土山环抱，地势南北有异、各具特色。
北部湖面风光，宜建筑、旅居；宜花果园艺、开发观光农业。三座村庄(岩良村、圪坨村和偏良村)要居于沟壑分割的三个半岛上黄金要地的一部分，周边片布有苹果、杏等园地；县级文物奶奶庙(福祥寺)位居岩良村东侧，应予保护并纳入总体规划。近水湖滨地势平缓、贴近水面，宜游人观光游览、嬉水娱乐、游憩休闲。
南部山地，山势高低错落，山峰有近有远、有陡有缓。西有西冷山，山峰耸立，近峰海拔1095米，主峰1165米。宜树木、宜登高爬山、遥望观景。东南有海金山，分南北两山把守大坝南北两翼。其中北海金山紧靠湖边，沿绵三公里之多，五、六座山峰叠起，一字排开，山青林茂，主山峰海拔1090米，各山峰之间有平缓的山岗平台，沿绵千余米，犹如空中长廊把五六座沿湖岸排开的山峰平台串联一体，得天独厚，是游人游览休闲、观赏湖景山色自然风光的极好胜地。山腰山麓，背山面水、环境幽静，风光秀丽，宜疗养、度假、会议、培训及文艺科研工作基地。
湖面东西两翼均有宽阔湿地(海拔高程1020米——1022米)，宜荷花、莲藕、菱角，湿地两岸，土坡平矮，宜玫瑰、牡丹，花卉园艺，亦可瓜果采摘。水陆两岸融合一体，游人信步，观赏、游、艺，独领风骚。
&地处晋中榆社的云竹湖旅游度假区系以云竹湖的绿水青山自然环境为特色的集旅游观光、度假疗养、会议培训、娱乐休闲及文体运动、绿色产业为一体，面向二十一世纪的现代旅游基地。
云竹湖旅游度假区以驰名中外的晋商文化、大院文化、古城文化为依托，把晋中的人文历史文化、民俗文化与山西不可多得的云竹湖山水自然文化融为一体，最充分地发挥晋中旅游资源的综合优势，形成立足晋中太原、面向河北、京、津乃至全国的晋中旅游圈中的一个旅游基地。
