上阕写对月饮酒,下阕写对月怀人本词作于宋神宗熙宁九年的中秋节,当时苏轼正任密州知府. 中秋,皓月当空,银光泻地,苏轼想起了分别七年的苏辙.词人举杯望月,心中生起无限遐思“江畔何人初见月,江月何年出照人”张若虚痴情的追问,在苏轼心中回响.不禁触景生情,睹物思人. 本词开篇,豪迈的意气,在“把酒问天”中排空直入,似乎潇洒的带走了一些作者的郁愤.“不知天上宫阙、今夕是何年”将天上与人间作对比,突出了他当时“仕”与“隐”的矛盾心理,词人不满现实,企望天上的纯洁.但天上恰如人间,同样不能圆满,同样一种缺陷的美好.苏轼遥望月宫,似与嫦娥共舞,身处瑶池仙境,起舞弄影的飘逸中带着几分酒后的轻狂. 随着月光的移动,低照在门窗上,照的屋里的词人难以入眠.无眠的孤清与亲人分离的悲凉只能唯圆月是问.但作者知道人之离合与月之圆却是自右而然.既知此理便“不应有恨”,从而感情转入理智,化悲怨而为旷达.“但愿人长久,千里共蝉娟”表达了作者乐观的态度：既只要人常在,纵然千里阻隔,也能同赏一轮明月,恍如咫尺相依. 本词通篇咏月,月是词的中心形象,却处处契合人事.在月的阴晴圆缺中,渗进浓厚的哲学意味,本词意境虚虚实实：文字在幻想与现实中穿梭‘思绪在天上与人间中徘徊.孤独的作者终于求得出路：离合的悲欢,政途的苦闷,只可借自宽自慰来消解,只能旷达的一笑而过.
