朱天衣的作文课是朱老师精心挑选了60个主题，写成文本，并亲自走进录音棚，将文本录制成，把自己的经验和阅读心得融会贯通，穿插在60个主题中，让小朋友一边兴趣盎然地听朱老师说故事，一边联想构思自己的精采内容。当然，偶有某些题目，小朋友比较不容易发挥，朱老师还会依据她丰富的教学经验，给对父母的小提示，让父母和孩子一起动脑，搭建一座包罗万象、五花八门的作文世界。除了这60个主题，朱老师还精心设计了数十种文字游戏，包括字词接龙、多音字、同音易错字、反义词、标点符号、猜灯谜、声音描述等等，让孩子能一边轻松玩游戏，一边还能借着游戏，增长语文基本功，打好语文运用的基础。
第一集，这本书包含了12个主题，分别是1.美食& &2. 最好玩的地方& &3. 害怕&&4. 脸红的时候&&5. 风&&6. 新卖火柴的小女孩7. 我记得&&8. 我开了一家店&&9. 蚊子&&10. 我的偶像&&11. 时光之旅 12. 我是一张纸。假如给我们其中一个主题让我们写作文，我们会怎么写呢？会不会思考了半天也写不出半个词来呢？现在的作文除了靠文采还要靠丰富的想象力，只有同时具备这二者写出的作文才是最精彩的。朱老师的这一系列中，以故事的形式引导孩子展开想象。比如主题中“我是一张纸”，那这张纸会是一张什么纸呢？会是一张图画纸还是稿纸还是？计算纸或是一张精美的卡纸？我们的身上又有什么特殊的图案呢？当这张纸被制造厂造出来以后，也许被送到了书店，每天都会接受很多人的浏览，最后是什么样的人选中了你呢？是一个小学生？是一个正在淡恋爱的男生或者女生？还是一个作家或画家？当他们把你带回家后，是十分珍惜你呢还是随便用用就丢弃了呢。。。。。。有了这些题材的引导，写作也并没有想象中的那么难嘛，只要选好材料，掌握了技巧和方法，写作反而是件很有意思的事呢。
