某些集体名词，如family, team等作主语时，如果作为一个整体看待，谓语动词用单数形式，如果就其中一个个成员而言，谓语动词用复数形式。如：
His family is a happy one.
The whole family are watching TV.
这类名词有：audience，class，club，company，crew，enemy，crowd，government，group，party，public，team等。
名词population一词的使用情况类似。“a group(crowd) of +复数名词”等短语之后的谓语动词也同样可用单数或复数，前者强调整体，后者强调各个部分。
2）某些集体名词，如people, police, cattle等，只当复数看待，谓语动词必须用复数。如：
The police are searching for the thief.
谓语动词用单数
集合名词作为主语，因为是作为一个整体，所以是用单数的。
但是如果是强调这个集体中的每个成员，比如family这种词，那也得用复数。
谓语动词用单数
在句子中是作单数还是复数要视具体情况和意义而定。取决于它的侧重点，侧重于整体的话用单数，侧重于个体的话用复数。
如：My family is a big one.我家是个大家庭。My family are all fond of football.我全家人都喜欢足球。
集体名词作主语，如果指整体概念，谓语动词用单数形式。如果指具体成员，谓语动词用复数形式。
常见的这类名词有：
army, audience, class, club. company, committee, crowd, crew, couple, family, group, government, jury, party, staff, team, union, public, cabinet, board.
The crowd are gone. 群众都散了。
The whole room was for the idea. 全房间的人都赞成这个主意。
The team is well organized. 这个对组织的很好。
The team are all good players. 这个对的队员都是好样的。
The committee is to deal with this matter. 委员会要处理这个事情。
The committee are divided in opinion. 委员们意见不一致。
有些集体名词如：family,class,group,council,committe等，做主语。谓语动词的单数还是复数取决于，当看做整体时，用单数；当强调部分时，用复数。如：
My family is early-getters.
The family are invited to come to that party.
有些集体名词如：cattle,people,police等做主语，谓语动词要用复数。
Cattle are grazing in the grassland.
Police are coming to investigate that event.

按默认排序
不可数就是不可数，不存在多个不可数放在一起就便可数这种情况。所以不管几个不可数名词放在一起做主语，谓语动词都是单数的。
这是主谓一致原则里的就近原则。比如说，Both you and I am a teacher.
Both I and you are a teacher.虽然主语几乎一样，但是后面的Be动词要看相近主语而定。
both有就近原则，其他的都有么？？这三个词也没有什么词连接啊？
Both you and I am a teacher.Both I and you are a teacher.我上网查了，我举得例子不对。Both you and I are a teacher.如果是either you or i 采用am,因为either表示其中一个，both 是两个同时都是。你的这句话，我再查阅资料，再做解释。
