Responsibilities:
DuPont Performance Polymers is seeking a Project Team Leader to work at the fluoroelastomer manufacturing site in Shanghai.
The successful candidate will lead the project for engineering, construction and commissioning of a precomounding facility
On completion of commissioning the candidate will act as Precompounding Unit Manager to provide day to day leadership in operations and engineering support for the new facility, including the engineering knowledge and support required to operate, maintain and improve all aspects of the precompound manufacturing processes and systems.
As Project Team Leader during project
Leads and organizes the Project Leadership Team.
Is accountable to the business for project success.
Is responsible through the Project Leadership Team members for acquiring and releasing project resources as needed during the life of the project.
Establishes effective communications within the Integrated Project Team to ensure alignment among business objectives, project objectives, and the Production Design Basis.
Leads the development of the roles and responsibilities definitions for the project and preparation of the project RACI diagram(s); ensure each functional team member understands their role and deliverables.
Manages overall project expenditures and schedule to meet business expectations.
Clearly sets overall Project Leadership Team direction and expectations.
Is accountable for the overall integrated project schedule.
Is accountable for total project cost and investment.
Provides primary interface between the Project Leadership Team and the Business Steering Team.
Leads all gatekeeping reviews and ensures all FEL deliverables are met.
Works with Lead Project Engineer to prepare all project-funding documents, including PPAs, and appropriation requests.
Ensures commissioning and turnover plans are prepared.
Ensures operations and maintenance procedures are prepared. As Precompounding Unit Manager on completion of project
Taking responsibility of PC facility overall management, including management of shift teams, performance management, ensuring safe and efficient production to fulfill plan.
Leading commissioning of the new facility, including verification of product quality compared to overseas units.
Establishing procedures, SOPs, maintenance schedules, interacts with MT leaders, SHE leaders and other engineering or other resources to launch and maintain the efficient and safe operation of the facility.
Understanding the equipment and processes used in precompound manufacturing operations and their influence on the quality and performance of the products to be made at the precompounding facility.
Understanding the relationships between thermoset elastomer compounding, elastomer rheology and
processing tests, physical property testing and how these relate to product performance for the processor and end-user of precompounds.
Developing parameters and mixer cycles that improve the yield and cost of manufacture for precompounds.
Leading troubleshooting and performing of RCFA for issues related to product quality, including customer complaints.
Ensures the quality, cost, reliability and performance of the current product line offering as well as for new product developments.
Writing Change Authorizations and Closing Reports related to precompound
manufacturing and establishes and maintains Operating Instructions, as appropriate.
Documenting and communicating process improvements.
Qualification of alternate sources for raw materials that we use in precompound manufacturing.
Working closely with the Product Management Team and the Technical Service and Development Team with direct interactions with Supply Chain, Sourcing, Manufacturing and Technology.
Participate in specification development and reviews of precompounded products. Qualifications:
Minimum Required
Strong leadership skills and ability to prioritize and m able/willing to delegate responsibilities.
Good understanding of the business, the technology, and manufacturing process.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Understanding and appreciation of the various functions involved in capital projects.
Overall understanding of the project process from FEL-1 through checkout and start-up and of the Guide to Project Implementation (GPI) - Part 19, Minor and Small Project Guidance.
“Champion” for disciplined application of project processes and best practices.
Has past project experience or is a graduate of the Project Team Leader Academy.
Understanding of DuPont capital and noncapital funding practices, appropriation request rules and practices, and project cost control techniques.
Knowledge of product process, plant operations, and maintenance technologies.
B.S. Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or rubber engineering technology, preferably with experience in process development.
Project management and leadership experience in the role of PTL.
Personal and group leadership capabilities.
Demonstrated problem solving/analytical ability.
Ability to develop and coordinate technical programs.
Ability to assess severity of potential problems and raise awareness of potential issues via communication with the Product Management team, Sourcing and TS&D organization.
Familiarity with statistics, and development of product specifications.
Demonstrated planning and organizing skills.
Effective verbal and written communication skills especially in the area of technical documentation.
Effective interpersonal skills, particularly with respect to dealing with vendors, contractors, engineers, operators and cross-functional teams.
Effective influence/negotiation skills as part of interactions with various individuals and functions.
Ability to set standards and maintain a high level of operating discipline.
Familiarity with computer systems - office software, e-mail Systems. Preferred but not required
3-5 years experience in a manufacturing environment or in elastomer formulation and process development.
Polymer processing experience, particularly in elastomers.
Elastomer formulation experience.
Familiarization with instrumentation and process control processes and systems.
Familiarization with analytical and quality control methodology and instrumentation.
Green Belt certification.
