BIncreasingly, over the past ten years, people―especially young people―have become aware of the need to change their eating habits, because much of the food they eat, particularly foods, is not good for the health. Consequently, there has been a growing interest in natural foods: foods which do not contain chemical additives and which have not been affected by chemical fertilizers, widely used in farming to- day.
Natural foods, for example, vegetables, fruits and grains which have been grown in soil that is rich in organic matter. In simple terms, this means that the soil has been nourished by unused vegetable matter, which provides it with essential vitamins and minerals. This in itself is a natural process compared with the use of chemicals and fertilizers, the main purpose of which is to increase the amount―but not the quality―of foods grown in commercial farming areas.
Natural foods also include animals which have been allowed to feed and move freely in healthy pastures. Compare this with what happens in the mass production of poultry: there are battery farms, for ex- ample, where thousands of chickens live crowded together in one building and are fed on food which is little better than rubbish. Chickens kept in this way are not on they also produce eggs which lack important vitamins. There are other aspects of healthy eating which are now receiving increasing attention from experts on diet. Take, for example, the question of sugar, this is actually a non-essential food! Although a natural alternative, such as honey, can be used to sweeten food if this is necessary, we can in fact do without it. It is not that sugar is harmful in itself. But it does seem to be an additive: the quantity we use has grown steadily over the last two centuries and in Britain today each person consumes an average of 200 pounds a year! Yet all it does is provide us with energy, in the form. of calories. There are no vitamins in it, no minerals and no fibre. It is significant that nowadays fibre is considered to be an important part of a healthy diet. In white bread, for example, the fibre has been removed. But it is present in unrefined flour and of course in vegetable. It is interesting to note that in countries where the national diet contains large quantities of unrefined flour and vegetable, certain diseases are comparatively rare. Hence the emphasis placed on the eating of wholemeal bread and more vegetables by modern experts on healthy eating.61..Recently, some people are interested in natural foods because ______.
A.these foods are fresh and sweet
B.they don''t like the processed foods
C.they want to change their eating habits
D.these foods contain more vitamins, minerals and fiber etc.62. According to the passage,to use chemicals and fertilizers means ___.

C Living and dealing with kids can be a tough job these days, but living and dealing with parents can be even tougher.
If I have learned anything in my 16 years, it is that communication is very important, both when you disagree and when you get along. With any relationship, you need to let other person know how you are feeling. If you are not able to communicate, you drift apart. When you are mad at your parents, or anyone else, not talking to them doesn’t solve anything.
Communication begins with the concerns of another. It means that you can’t just come home from school, go up to your room and ignore everyone. Even if you just say “Hi”, and see how their day was for five minutes, it is better than nothing.
If you looked up the word “communication” in a dictionary, it would say “the exchange of ideas, the conveyance of information, correspondence, means of communication: a letter or a message”. To maintain a good relationship, you must keep communication strong. Let people know how you feel, even if it’s just by writing a note.
When dealing with parents, you always have to make them feel good about how they are doing as a parent. If you are trying to make them see something as you see it, tell them that you’ll listen to what they have to say, but ask them politely to listen to you. Yelling or walking away only makes the situation worse.
This is an example: one night, Sophie went to a street party with her friends. She knew she had to be home by midnight after the fireworks, but she didn’t feel she could just ask to go home. That would be rude. After all, they had been nice enough to take her along with them. Needless to say, she was late getting home. Her parents were mad at first, not when Sophie explained why she was late, they weren’t as mad and let the incident go. Communication is the key factor here. If Sophie’s parents had not been willing to listen, Sophie would have been in a lot of trouble.
Communication isn’t a one-way deal: it goes both ways. Just remember: if you get into a situation like Sophie’s, telling the other person how you feel-listening is the key factor to communication.66. In the writer’s view, dealing with parents is __________ than with children.
A. more difficult
C. more uninteresting
D. more interesting67. The main idea of the second paragraph is __________.
A. the importance of friendship
B. to make your feeling known to others
C. the importance of communication
D. the disagreement between generations68. When parents and children are in communication, the key to a happy relationship is that __________.
A. children should always obey their parents
B. they should be equal
C. parents play the leading part
D. both make the opposite know their feelings69. The example in this passage proves that ___________.
A. Sophie’s parents are willing to listen to her
B. Sophie is very polite to her parents
C. Sophie did well in explaining her being late
D. communication is the solution(解决办法) to misunderstanding70. All the following statements are correct except “_______”.
A. If you don’t agree with others, you’d better let them know
B. It is better to say “Hi” to others than say nothing
C. If you are not able to communicate, walk away

Writing (45 marks)Section A (10 marks)Directions: Read the following passage. Fill in the numbered blanks by using the information from the passageWrite NO MORE THAN THREE WORDS for each answer.Laughter is a key component of a happy life, and it has powerful physical and mental benefits. No matter what you’re facing, you can learn to laugh and benefit from it. One of the many benefits of laughter and a sense of humor is that they protect you against the negatives of life. Researches show that people who use humor to fight stress feel less lonely and more positive about themselves. Although we can’t say that a certain number of laughs every day will keep the doctor away, studies show that people who laugh a lot tend to be in good health. And laughter is one of the most commonly used therapies (疗法) among cancer patients.Laughter could be healthy for your heart, too. Some research shows that when you laugh, there is an increase in oxygen-rich blood flow in your body, possibly due to the release of endorphins (内啡肽), which create a chemical rush that fights negative feelings and stress. Activities that increase endorphins include a good workout and listening to music you love.Love the benefits of laughter but don’t feel like laughing? Sometimes you have to make an effort to laugh. If you’re facing tough times, it may help to learn techniques to bring the benefits of laughter into your life. You can try the old recommendations: Read a funny book, or watch a movie that is funny. Spend time with an amusing friend. Look on the light side: Go to places that help you remember good times that have made you laugh in the past. Four heavy duty trucks were parked in the emergency lanes. Their brightly glowing signs said, “Slow. Be prepared to stop. Construction ahead.” Missing all of these warnings, the SUV’s driver, going at least 50 mph, knocked into the car. The car driver, a computer programmer, was a recent immigrant to America. In the passenger seat was his wife, and in the back seat were his 6-year-old daughter and his 8-year-old son. It was 9 p.m. The family was going to a restaurant to celebrate the little girl’s birthday. They never knew what hit them. The collision caused the car to explode in flames. Somehow, the car driver managed to get out of the car seconds after the explosion. Third-degree burn covered much of his body. His chances for survival are slim. His life, as he knew it, is over. His loved ones were burned beyond recognition. The 28-year-old driver of the SUV was not only unhurt, but was able to escape from his SUV. He claimed that his brakes had failed. It is a fact that proper eating along with regular exercise can make one feel good, look good and have energy. That is to say, healthy eating and regular exercise are the only way to keep fit.
Some teenagers skip meals for slim figure. They can’t give their bodies enough energy, so they often feel tired. We should enjoy healthy eating instead of going on diets or skipping meals. Drinking 6―8 glasses of water every day is also important for good health.
teenagers should spend at least 30 minutes exercising five days a week. It helps to keep them in good health. What’s more, plenty of sleep every night is of importance for teenagers’ health. In fact, loss of sleep or lack of sleep can make you not only look tired but also gain weight.
In word, only by eating healthily, exercising regularly and sleeping enough can we keep fit.听力原文Section AConversation 1W: What is the purpose of your visit to the States?M: I’m going on business.W: Could you be exact?M: My company is taking part in a computer exhibition in the States.Conversation 2M: Do you ever go hiking?W: Funny you should ask. And what about the experience with making a flash?M: Well...I think sometimes computers’ flash...if that’s what you mean.W: Okay, Mr. Taylor, I think I have all the information I need!M: Oh, and I really like computer games. I play them every day.W: Right, right, thanks. Mr. Taylor. We’ll be in touch.Conversation 4W: Thomas?M: Yes?W: It’s too noisy.M: Oh, Mum! Didn’t you listen to music when you were young?W: Yes, we did, but not as loudly as you do now. Can you turn it down a bit?M: Yes ... Is that all right?W: Yes, much better. ⑦ But why are you spending so much time inside listening to jazz and other loud music?M: Sorry, Mum, but ⑧ we are going to organize a party about music born in America next month, and it’s my turn to give a performance...W: What? A party? Your turn? Oh, goodness! Do you need any help?M: Thanks, Mum. So I have to listen to loud music again and again.W: OK, carry on with your preparations, ⑨ but keep it down, so I can hear myself think!Conversation 5W: I’ve heard you’ve just come back from America. How are things going there?M: Everything goes well. But I don’t think I can live well there.W:
How long have you lived there?M:
Oh, a little over 5 years.W: Are you a U.S. citizen?M: Yes, I am.W: It’s said that there is gold everywhere.
Lots of young people dream of going and living there. But you came back.M: Yes, you can’t understand unless you live there for some time. It’s easy to make big money by hard work. That’s true.
But I feel very lonely.W: Don’t you have some friends?M: I have some friends. But they are very busy. It’s difficult for us to get together.W: I have never expected life in America would be like that.Conversation 6M: Excuse me, I wonder if you would tell me how to find a place
where I can have my shoes fixed. I’m new in town.W: Well, of course you can always look in the Yellow Pages in the back of the telephone book under shoe repair. But I think there is a good one not far from here. Take the first street on the left and walk past three blocks. I can’t remember the name of the shop, but you’ll not miss it.
It’s near the police station. By the way, do you know about the Town Guide?
It has all kinds of useful information. I think you’ll find it in any bookstore.M: Thanks a lot. You’ve been very helpful. And I’ll look for that Town Guide next time I’m in a bookstore. Let’s see, you said the repair shop was three blocks on the right?W: No, first street on the left, then three blocks.M: Thanks again.Section B
