Australia Awards Scholarships (AAS)
AAS are funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) as part of Australia’s foreign aid program. The AAS provide opportunities for people from selected developing countries to study in Australia. These Scholarships are awarded either on merit or on nomination by home governments. Information and application forms for the AAS must be obtained directly from the Australian Diplomatic Mission or the Australian Education Centre in your home country. Australia Awards Leadership Program (AALP)
The Australia Awards Leadership Program is supplementary to the Australia Awards Scholarship. The Chilean Government (Ministry of Education) offers scholarships to Chilean students through the Becas Chile program. Faculty of Science Dean's International Postgraduate Research Scholarships
The Faculty of Science offers a limited number of The Dean’s International Postgraduate Research Scholarships. These are full-time postgraduate research scholarships for outstanding international students wishing to undertake a research doctorate degree in the Faculty. These Scholarships are awarded

Fulbright Program
The Fulbright program was created by the US Congress in 1946 to foster mutual understanding among nations through education and cultural exchanges. Grants are available for one year to postgraduate American students who require supervised field work or who need to use Australian research facilities to earn credit towards their US degrees. International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (IPRS)
The International Postgraduate Research Scholarships (IPRS) scheme is funded by the Australian Government and provides tuition fees to top quality international postgraduate students who wish to enrol in a research degree at Australian universities.Applications are assessed on academic merit and research potential. In addition to the IPRS, the University of Sydney awards an Australian Postgraduate Award (APA) to IPRS holders. The APA provides a stipend/living allowance to all IPRS recipients.The IPRS is primarily offered to commencing students. Students must indicate that they would like to be considered for the IPRS by completing the relevant section of the . No separate application for a IPRS Scholarship is necessary. To be considered for the award, *completed admission applications MUST be submitted via Sydney Student by:
31 July of the previous year for Round 1, i.e. Research Period 2 (March) commencement15 December of the previous year for Round 2, i.e. Research Period 3 (July) commencement
* Please note: you MUST submit all required supporting and Faculty specific documentation before your application is considered to be complete. For scholarship selection purposes, applicants must also submit Research Potential Indicator (RPI) information. Please refer to the documents below:
To be eligible for the IPRS, you must:
Be an international student commencing full time enrolment in a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) at this University.Be a student undertaking study in a subject area identified by the University as within the areas of its current and emerging research strengths.Not hold a research qualification regarded to be equivalent to an Australian Research Doctorate degree, or, if undertaking a Research Master's degree, not hold a research qualification regarded to be equivalent to or higher than an Australian Research Master’s degree.Not have held an Australia Award scholarship within two years prior to commencing the IPRS.Not be receiving a scholarship for which course tuition is a component under any other scholarship scheme to which the Australian Government makes a substantial contribution.Not previously have received an IPRS, unless the previous IPRS was for a Master by Research degree that you have completed and you are now applying for a doctorate research degree.
International students who have commenced a postgraduate research degree at The University of Sydney will only be considered for IPRS if:
The applicant was not considered in the previous round/year and
At the time of the Special IPRS application form submission deadline (refer to the dates below), the applicant's current postgraduate research degree enrolment duration is less than two research periods.
Students who fulfil the above criteria will be required to complete the Special IPRS application form** as well as the RPI information (refer to RPI guide and template documents above).**The Special IPRS application form MUST be received at the Admissions Office:
– by 29 August of the previous year. – by 28 February of the current year.
The University awards approximately 30 IPRS awards each year. Successful candidates will be notified in late October/early November for Round 1 and mid-April for Round 2. Master of Human Rights and Democratisation (Asia Pacific) Scholarships
The University of Sydney will provide up to 35 scholarships for citizens of countries in the Asia Pacific region to join the Master of Human Rights and Democratisation (Asia Pacific). The Northcote Graduate Scholarships enable students resident in the United Kingdom to undertake a higher degree at an Australian university for up to three years in any field of study. Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness Scholarship
All sport, whether at the elite or interfaculty level, is managed by the professional staff at Sydney Uni Sport & Fitness (SUSF). They are assisted by a team of specialist coaches, administrators and associated volunteers. University of Sydney International Scholarship (USydIS)
The University of Sydney invites candidates who are eligible to undertake a Postgraduate Research Degree or Master's by Research program at this University to apply for the University of Sydney International Research Scholarship (USydIS). The objective of the USydIS is to attract top quality international postgraduate students to undertake research projects which will enhance the University's research activities. The USydIS is open to all
