楼上的答案是正确的,但我觉得解释的不太好,我补充一下：分几种情况：情况一：用"the" 或 "a" 都没有文法上的错误,但句子的意思变了.
I want a banana. （我要一个香蕉）
I want the banana. （我要那个香蕉）这两句都没错,但说的人的意思不一样.如果你听到前一句,你随便拿一个香蕉给他就行了,他没有特殊要那个香蕉.如果你听到第二句,除非他指着,不然你需要问他：“你要的是那一个香蕉?”这里就是你老说的“特指”.但两句都没文法上的错误,但想表达的不一样.情况二：应该要用"the"

第一个用“the”第二个用“a”因为第一个指的是站在门旁的那个人。而不是只其他的女人。第二个只是想要一个新鲜的香蕉，世上有很多新鲜的香蕉，并不是特指某个。您举的那个树的例子，不是很恰当。这两个都应该用“a”。第二句您想表达的意思其实是：在山上的那棵树很高。这样子就用the。特指就是指世上唯一的。...

可是 方位词前不是应该要加be动词么
不用，可以用两种方法解释。一种是后面有is如果再添一个is，那就有两个动词了，不符合语法。第二种解释就是这里的on the right是用来修饰woman的，以后还会进一步学习。
