第一题：in search of 和search for 意思上基本一样,就是前者强调儿子丢失好多天了,他们一直处于寻找的状态,而后者用进行时强调正在的动作.简单的说,前者强调状态,后者强调动作.第二题：Jones是先行词,我把句子拆成两句,则是 You think Jones is very proud.和 Jones is actually an easy-going lady.这个先行词Jones 在前一句中当宾语,后一句中当主语,这种情况只能用who.记住能用whom的情况who都试用,反之不一定.第三题：理论上来说这是个好计划,但是实践起来是否有用还得拭目以待.

对于第二题，因为是主语从句，而whom无法引导对于第三题，翻译是：从理论上这是个好计划，但它是否实际奏效仍有待分晓。remain to be done 是有待被做的意思。
属于一个固定搭配2、选择宾格还是主格
主要是看其在从句中所做的成分 在该句中（is very proud ）充当主语的成分
所以用主格3、It remains to be seen ...意思为有待于解决...

第一,词意上没有明显区别,至少在普通考试和日常使用中可以通用；第二,用法不同,search for 是动词词组,直接做谓语；in search of 是介词短语,只能与be动词连在一起做谓语,或者直接做表语等,和普通介词短语同.

search for 是个动词词组in search for 是副词词组
意思都是一样的。不过前者是表示动作，（They are searching for the cat.）而后者表示状态。(They are in search of the cat.)
