二十世纪二三十年代，。美国文学揭开了一个新时期，这是美国小说的黄金时
代。这二十年间，美国文学界群星灿烂，异彩纷里，文学创作呈现出空前繁荣的
景象。西奥多?德莱塞作为最亮眼的俘家在当时酶文学界异军突起，驰骋文坛，
独领风骚；他既是二十世纪美国文学中第一位杰出的作家，也是美国现代小说的
先驱；在美国文学史上，他率先如实地攒写了薪的美墓城市生活，厥功奇伟。艾
伦?泰特把他同福克纳、海明威并列为世界大站后美国仅有的三大小说家。
德莱塞一生著作颇丰，从1900年发表第一部长篇小说《嘉莉妹妹》起，他
先盾发表了《珍妮姑娘》、《天才》、《金融家》、《巨人》、《斯多葛》、《美
国的悲剧》等长篇小说，另外还有《德莱塞访苏印象记》、政论集《悲剧的美国》、
短篇小说集《妇女群像》等。在德莱塞一生的剖体中，
《珍妮姑娘》是其最具代
表性的作品之一。该小说描写了美丽善良的珍妮先后与两个上层阶级的男子相爱
且未婚同居，产下私生子，最詹孤老终身的悲剧。文本运用文学伦理学批评的方
法，通过文本的研究来揭示珍妮悲剧的伦理价值。
本文一共分为四章来探究《珍妮姑娘》中珍妮悲剧的伦理价值。第一章主要
从文本出发，透过珍妮做出的三次道德选择来研究酿成其悲剧的原因，并分析珍
妮之所以这样选择的伦理根源，最后揭示出珍妮悲剧的实质。第二章主要从珍妮
自身经历的视角，通过对珍妮悲剧的分砉鼍来透视社会婚恋观、家庭规的变化，以
及其中表现出的个人意识的觉醒，由此表明珍妮悲剧反映
