Very nice review! I was already planning on switching to a PCI-E 3.0 capable motherboard. Thank god that someone post this review! For now, I will still use my MSI 890 FXA GD70!

PCI-E 3 VGA and motherboard with PCIE-3 support is not enough. You also need a CPU with PCIE-3 micro-controller. These are 3rd generation i7 CPU's, for example
And your MB is "Intel Socket 2011 for 2nd Generation Core i7 Processors" - this is why I'm 100% sure that you used CPU with PCI-E 2.0. So this test is worthless
Would be nice to see test results with full PCI-E 3 complectation Edited by KOMOKHEPBOB - 8/15/12 at 11:56pm

It's not really enlightening, some have known this for a long while. If you have a pcie 3 rig you can simply switch the pcie 3 off in bios and run a bench to see no gain, or no loss.
Another review.

I see they didnt test the difference on an 8x link though. if you are strapped for space like i am i ended up putting my 7970s in the 8x slots and because its 3.0 i get the same performance
